Biography and Introduction
Cormac J. Leddy is a highly experienced senior litigator with a proven track record of managing and resolving hundreds of complex cases across tort liability defense, premises liability defense, Insurance Law §5102 threshold litigation, construction, contract, and insurance disputes. Renowned for his strategic precision, commercial insight, and courtroom effectiveness, Cormac combines deep industry knowledge with meticulous day-to-day case management to achieve favorable outcomes that protect his clients’ business interests and minimize risk exposure.
As a trusted advocate, Cormac represents a broad spectrum of clients in the construction and commercial sectors—including municipalities, governmental agencies, public transportation authorities, sureties, insurers, owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers. This extensive experience gives him a rare 360-degree perspective, allowing him to anticipate opposing strategies, assess risk, and develop innovative, results-driven solutions that succeed both in and out of the courtroom.
In his role as Senior Associate, Cormac focuses on tort liability defense litigation and insurance defense/coverage, regularly representing clients such as the MTA, NYC Transit, MTA Bus, DASNY, construction companies of all sizes, governmental agencies, sureties, insurers, and owners. His practice encompasses civil litigation, personal injury, and tort liability defense matters—including notice of claim issues, Labor Law §§200, 240, and 241 claims, premises liability, insurance coverage disputes, No-Fault Insurance Law §5102 defense litigation, indemnification, and appellate advocacy.
Cormac oversees every stage of litigation, managing initial case evaluation, liability and damage assessment, accident report review, discovery, depositions, court appearances, motion practice, 50-h hearings, expert retention and disclosures, witness preparation, and full trial preparation. Having handled hundreds of cases, he consistently achieves summary judgment victories and favorable settlements while strategically positioning matters for trial when necessary. His experience allows him to mentor junior attorneys and lead litigation teams with a disciplined, detail-oriented approach.
While in law school, Cormac gained valuable judicial experience interning for the Honorable Salvatore Modica of the New York State Supreme Court, Queens County, conducting legal research, drafting opinions, and observing civil and criminal proceedings, including bench and jury trials. He also earned recognition in arbitration competitions, winning Best Written Advocate at the 2019 Tulane National Baseball Arbitration Competition and placing fourth in the Judith S. Kaye Arbitration Competition. Cormac earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.S. in Finance from Fairfield University.
