Biography and Introduction
Virginie M. Brizon is a results-driven litigator known for her strategic precision, commercial insight, and courtroom effectiveness in complex construction, contract, and insurance disputes. As a trusted advocate in “bet-the-company” cases, Virginie combines deep industry knowledge with tactical foresight to achieve outcomes that protect her clients’ business interests and bottom line.
Virginie represents the full spectrum of stakeholders in the construction and commercial sectors—including municipalities, governmental agencies, sureties, insurers, owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers. This rare 360-degree perspective gives her a competitive edge, providing firsthand understanding of each party’s motivations, risks, and negotiation posture. Clients rely on her ability to see the entire field, anticipate opposing strategies, and execute innovative solutions that drive success both in and out of the courtroom.
Her practice spans a wide range of construction and commercial litigation, including breach of contract, change order and payment disputes, delay and liquidated damages claims, construction defect matters, mechanic’s and public improvement liens, payment bond and Miller Act claims, bid protests, and insurance coverage and indemnification issues. Virginie also handles complex business disputes involving shareholder conflicts and dissolution proceedings,, as well as MWBE certification challenges and other Article 78 proceedings.
Virginie’s results speak for themselves—she has secured summary judgment, verdicts, and settlements exceeding $25 million cumulatively through her ability to align legal strategy with business imperatives. Her approach blends meticulous preparation, persuasive advocacy, and a clear command of the technical, contractual, and financial aspects that define complex construction and commercial cases. Whether leading a multi-party construction trial, resolving a multimillion-dollar breach of contract dispute, or negotiating a critical settlement under tight time pressure, Virginie is known for her strategic clarity, composure under pressure, and results-oriented mindset.
Before joining Chan Vitanza, Virginie built a strong foundation in international arbitration and commercial dispute resolution, working on matters before arbitral tribunals administered under the ICSID, ICC, SCAI, and LCIA rules, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, New York State Courts, and French Courts. This global experience sharpened her ability to navigate diverse legal systems and handle cross-border contract and enforcement issues.
Virginie earned her LL.M. from New York University School of Law, a Master’s in International Arbitration from the University of Versailles Paris-Saclay, and both a Master’s in French Business Law and a Bachelor’s in French Law from Aix-Marseille University in France. She is admitted to practice in New York State, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and Paris, and is fluent in French (native) and English.
